raining sheets run cool from the gutters
sliding quickly down each cork screwed curl
biting breath curses wet leaves slippery under my boots
I slide jarring myself just a little
and the fall is here, finally, the world is darker
I listen to the howling wind east, fear rides the foil
I ride the fear and everything seems close to death
everything seems uncertain
but I know the winter will come I will continue to fatten with
too much drinking, too much pretending, too much everything
I will continue to fade a little from here to forever
